Journal entry Frankenstein

Frankenstein was a sad and interesting tragedy. It showed how the curiosity pf one man would change things in humans that just can not be tampered with. Frankenstein showed the reader all point of views an real world aspects of the treatment of the monster. It also made a the reader realize that everyone will not accept you for how you look an their will always be judgmental people when things are unusual or strange to them. It also showed the lack of bonding with something you created could destroy a human physically and mentally.

An Analysis of Psalm 28; A Psalm of David

In verse 1 of Psalm 28, David is petitioning the Lord to address his concerns and problems when he prays to Him.  He acknowledges the fact that the Lord is all powerful by referring to Him as his Rock.  David is certain that if the Lord does not answer his prayers, he is as hopeless as those who have already been condemned.  Verse 2 conveys David's request for the Lord to hear his humble words both when he prays and when he lifts his hands towards heaven with sincerity.  He does not want to be placed in the category  with the evil doers who speak peace but possess malice in their hearts as described in verse 3.  Verse 4 and 5, reflect David's plea for the Lord to judge and render what is due to those who do not observe the works of the Lord.  He notes that they will be destroyed and not exalted.  David then praises the Lord in verse 6 for acknowledging his humble requests.  In verse 7, David rejoices and sings praises of Lord's ability and willingness to strengthen and protect him just for trusting in Him.  Verse 8 acknowledges David's belief that the Lord will help everyone who believes in Him.  David ends this Psalm in verse 9 by petitioning the Lord to save His people so that we all will be blessed with eternal life with Him in heaven.

Perfect Sisters

It was a rainy day in September and all class doors were shut only Casey in the hall. Casey was a pretty girl; light skin, long hair, and a beautiful smile.  As she moves closer to Ms.Canaston's door Layla rushes out and yells " I hate this class". Casey gasps with surprise and turns to Layla directing her back to her seat.  Waiting at the desk was Sky who is also friends with the girls.  These girls had been friends since they where little kids and they also grew up in the same neighborhood.  The girls hung together so much kids from their school mistaken them for sisters. Some students also labeled the girls as the best looking people in school.
This day had been a strange one for the girls.  Things had been going very uneasy, attitude were flaring and opinions were strong .  As the day went on, it then became lunch time where all the students went into the cafeteria.  Today the girls decided that they were not going to the cafeteria to receive their lunch  and they where going to spend this time in  the student parking lot. Approaching the side walk the girls spotted a silver backpack with diamonds surrounded the front pocket.  "It was like love at first sight" said Casey. "I saw it first" said Layla . "No I DID" said Casey. "No one gets the bag either we share it or leave it here" . The girls look with suprise then let the bag go " well I wear it first " said Casey,
The next morning was here. All the girls usually meet every morning at Ms.Canaston door.  Casey was late today so the other girls went in without her. When Casey arrived all the student instantly surrounded her noticing the book backpack.  Layla and Sky had anger in their eyes. With all the attention on Casey Sky gets up and snatches the bag from Casey and yells "its mine". Casey then snatches the bag back An whispers " you know the agreement let it go". While the girls fought over the bag Layla reaches for her pocket An pulls out a knife An head quickly to the girls.

Geoffery Chaucer

Geoffery Chaucer was a popular and admired poet during Medieval England.  His works were moderately praised but often not clearly understood.  Although some considered him the "father of English literature and the prime shaper of the English language, English literature had long been developed before Chaucer's "reign" and the development of Modern English had little to do with him.  Chaucer's career can be divided into three stages; French influences, Italian tendencies, and English realism.  These stages reflect the gradual rejection of Medieval conventionalism and the forward progression towards modern realism.
Chaucer's poetry has origins in various sources such as Latin, French, and Italian.  His works include folk tales, sermons, rhetorical textbooks, philosophical meditations, and ribald jokes.  His poems were often narrated by a naïve persona and were often left unfinished but should be interpreted as a completed work. Chaucer's favorite subject was human love.  His works frequently contrasted authority with real life experiences.  These contrasts could be tragic or comic and never really gave a resolution.  His creativity, cheerful attitude, charm, compassionate yet expository understanding of human differences make his work even more alluring until this very day.

Assignment 10 Letter

Dear Abby,

My name is Mr.G I am a teacher in the state of Louisiana. I have been given the perplexed task of teaching a prisoner how to "become a man."   The prisoner, we'll refer to him as Jay, has been convicted of robbery and murder in the first degree.  He has also been sentenced to death by execution.  Jay is uneducated and of a diminished mental capacity.  He was unfairly compared to as a "hog" during his trail and has thus taken on animal-like characteristics.  He refuses to speak and eats from the floor.  His loved ones want Jay to die with some kind of dignity.  That's why I was asked to work with him.  The problem that I have is that I have no clue on how to get Jay to communicate his feelings to me.  Furthermore, how do I get him to get this idea of him being a hog out of his mind?  If I can break down these barriers maybe I'll have a chance to teach Jay the basic principles of being a man before he dies.  Please answer soon. We are running out of time.

"I Have A Dream"

In his " I Have A Dream" speech, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. uses rhetorical devices to make his speech both impactful and inspirational.  For example, in paragraph 3, page 1, Dr. King uses the device of repetition when he repeats the phrase " One hundred years later" four times in that same paragraph.  The phrase puts emphasis on the fact that the struggles of Negros had not changed over a one hundred year period.  Each use of the phrase is followed by an area of injustice that was still plaguing Negros during that time period.   This offered authenticity to the speech.
Next, Dr. King makes use of the simile rhetorical device.  He uses this device in one instance in paragraph 2, page 2, when he states the phrase "until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream."  He uses this device to describe the means necessary to assure Negros that they were equal citizens.  The use of this simile causes the hearer or reader to envision both justice and righteousness as steady, abundantly flowing bodies of water.  This added depth and significance to the piece.
